Student Program

WELCOME students! The ISEA student program at the annual meetings is designed to create and enhance learning and networking opportunities for and among you, as well as between you and the broader ISEA membership and conference attendees. For the 2007 Annual Meeting in Raleigh-Durham, several student-focused activities have been planned as described below:

Student Poster Competition

The Student Poster Competition has been scheduled during the Opening Reception on Sunday, October 14, from 7:30-9:00 p.m. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to practice and perfect their skills by presenting their research to a panel of judges along with peers and other attendees. Five posters will be selected to receive awards as described below. A list of students participating in this competition can be found in the conference program.

Reminders for Students Participating in the Competition:

1)       Be prepared to present your competition paper or poster TWICE:

a.      Once at the competition, during the opening ceremony on October 14, and a second time during the regularly scheduled session assigned to you by the conference organizers.

b.      Please note that even if you are scheduled to be an oral presenter during the regular conference session, you must be prepared to make and present a poster during the competition.

2)       Each participating student will be required to mount his/her poster(s) at 4:30 p.m. on October 14 in the pre-assigned area for review.  The posters will be grouped by research topics to enhance student communication and networking during poster preparation and presentation.

3)       Students need to stand near their poster during the competition. When approached by the judges, they will be asked to summarize their research in a 2-minute brief oral presentation and to be available to respond to questions.

Eligibility Requirements:

All students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (masters or doctoral) at a University or College and who are involved in an original research program in exposure science were eligible to participate.

Review Process:

A panel of judges led by Dr. Esther Erdei, Chair of ISEA Student Affairs Committee, has been assembled. This Panel will review the student abstracts in advance and the poster presentations during the competition. Judging will occur ONLY during the competition, concurrent with the opening reception.
