This paper discusses the development of a Visual Basic tool used to validate ambient monitoring data (both chemical and meteorological), track and utilize laboratory analyses, track, notate, and resolve problems at the monitoring sites, and to evaluate and explore dry deposition data. In addition, the application assists the program manager in tracking equipment inventory on an on-going basis. The application was developed as part of the Clean Air Status and Trends Network (CASTNet) database management system. The CASTNet database management system runs on SQL Server version 7.0 and contains more than 30 million records with information on data derived from sampling and analysis of filter packs as well as continuous meteorology information. This presentation looks at the tools available within the CASTNet Database Application. In particular, this presentation will provide examples of reports and on-screen tools including tools to allow the user to track long term trends in measured parameters and to re-evaluate these trends after removing suspected outliers from the analysis.
