A model intercomparison study of five modelling approaches at Heathrow Airport is
discussed. The key pollutants for this study are NOx and NO2 and the key air pollution
objective the annual mean limit value of NO2 (40 µg m-3). As well as comparisons of the
prediction of annual mean concentrations at receptor points a number of diagnostic tests
have been used to investigate model performance and the difference between the models.
These compared wind speed dependencies, polar plots, contour maps and areas of
excedence, transects, dependency on runway operation and aircraft contribution at
different receptor points. The focus of the results presented in this paper are those for the
ADMS-Airport model.
