Chairman and CEO, PPG Industries

Energy security and climate change are pivotal challenges
of our day. And they are of prime concern to Charles E. Bunch,
chairman and chief executive officer of Pittsburgh’s
own PPG Industries. Leading the world’s top coatings
and specialty products company, Bunch is taking action by
establishing conservation and emissions reduction programs,
supporting innovative products and technologies, and by engaging
in the national dialogue on energy policy. Bunch serves as
chairman of the National Association of Manufacturers and
the National Paint and Coatings Association. He is a member
of the University of Pittsburgh’s Board of Trustees,
and a member of the boards of directors of the H.J. Heinz
Corp. and PNC Financial Services Corp.

Lester Lave
Carnegie Mellon University
|
A&WMA's
lineup of speakers also features Carnegie Mellon University
Professor Lester Lave, an internationally renowned expert
on the relationship between environmental issues and political
economies. Professor Lave's recent work deals with developing
public policy concerning greenhouse effects, in view of large
uncertainties about the magnitude and timing of these effects.
He is the head of the university-wide Green Design Initiative,
which works with businesses and government agencies to address
the fundamental problems in pollution prevention. |

While administrator of the EPA, Christine Todd Whitman propelled
forward solutions to the most important environmental issues
facing Americans today, as citizens of the United States and
the world. During this eye-opening presentation she explores
the most complex environmental concerns of the day, including
the preservation of watersheds, ensuring clean air and safe
food and protection from toxic waste.
